Law Reform

The Hunter CLC engages in law reform activities aimed at addressing inequalities in the legal system by  challenging existing or potential unfair laws and practices and making recommendations for improvements.

The work in this area involves identifying areas for law reform and responding to Government inquiries on areas of law and policy directly related to our clients and their needs.

Law reform activities include projects that:

  • highlight the impact of the law on our community, particularly on groups who experience social, economic or other  disadvantage;
  • draw the attention of government and other institutions to any injustices within the law;
  • recommend changes to the law or its effects based on our clients’ experiences.
