Free Legal Assistance – General Law

The Hunter CLC provides free legal assistance in Newcastle and the Hunter regions to people who live, work or study in the region. Ongoing advice and assistance, including court representation, may be provided in some circumstances to vulnerable clients who suffer from economic, social, financial or other disadvantage.

Free legal assistance is provided through the Free Legal Advice by Phone service in the following general areas of law:

– Employment

– Discrimination

– Traffic Offences

– Fines and Penalties

– Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders

– Apprehended Personal Violence Orders

– Motor Vehicle Accidents

– Credit and Debt

– Coronial Matters

– Missing Persons

Face to face legal advice is provided in some situations and also at various outreach locations in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley regions.

  • Binding Financial Agreements in family law matters
  • Guarantors seeking a solicitor’s certificate for a loan
  • To persons already receiving legal advice from another source
